Every Season. Every Space. All for Him.
I’m a mom, a wife, a full-time employee, a cook, a cleaner, and I try to be a good friend too. There’s not a ton of time in the day for the interior decorating and cooked-from-scratch meals that I dream of within my Pinterest boards, so even making the smallest upgrades to any room (yes, I refer to the deck as an extra room of my small house) is a HUGE win. 🥳
We spend a lot of time out in the yard and on the deck. We’re fortunate that we haven’t gotten much of the smoke sent this way in one of BC’s worst fire seasons yet. Whether it’s working in the garden, hanging around in the hammock, or dreaming up our future vision for the property, we value the time spent in nature soaking up the fresh air with our toddler.
It’s been almost a year 🤯 since we moved in to the upstairs of our suited home in BC. We lived in the basement suite for 3 years while fixing it up and renting out the upstairs. Now we’re so happy to be upstairs with the windows and skylights and DISHWASHER!! (IYKYK)
Here’s how things just kind of landed in the initial move up:
Our deck was not the priority for Feng Shui and we got by with the basic functionality… until now…
A combination of home stores here yielded three important things for this little deck upgrade:
Peek below for how I styled these little tweaks and how much more clean and welcoming this makes the space look when your eye isn’t drawn away from the main attraction–the entertaining space.
Now, I’m no interior designer by trade, but I certainly appreciate a well-styled and highly functional space. You can sit and scroll and pin all you want, but doing the project is so much more satisfying when you get to sit down and sip a sweet treat after it’s all said and done.
Bonus, doing this little deck refresh project at the end of the summer (versus the beginning or in the spring) brought us in at 50% of the cost I expected to have to pay for these items when getting around to this. So, pro-tip, shop the seasonal sales!!
